The First Nations Principles of OCAP®

The OCAP® training offered by the First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) centers around the First Nations principles of ownership, control, access, and possession, which are collectively known as OCAP®. These principles state that First Nations have the right to control data collection processes and manage the ownership and sharing of their data according to their traditions, beliefs, and protocols. The training aims to support strong information governance and promote the path towards First Nations data sovereignty.
