BOARD OF DIRECTORS PROJECT

YMCA of Southern Interior BC  | September 2023

Building a Stronger Foundation of Diversity & Inclusion on the Board of Directors and Leadership Team with a focus on Attraction vs. Recruitment and examining Intersectional Diversity, we work to design an aspirational and action-oriented plan that aligns with the organization's values, ethics, and cross-cultural practices.


ANISHINAABE ELDERS & SCOTTISH TRADITION KEEPERS COLLABORATION WORKSHOPS

Cultural Teachings | February-May 2023

Origin CEO, Raelene was one of only three individuals from Canada invited to accompany Anishinaabe Elders to Scotland to plan and facilitate workshops, training, and Land Healing ceremonies with Scottish Tradition Keepers, with a focus on cross-cultural collaboration and commitment to fostering connections globally.


KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION PROJECT 

Innovating for Impact (I²) | February - April 2023

Working with two non-profit organizations–ARAISA and Inspiring Communities–to conduct an analysis of the I² program in order to increase capacities to conduct Social Research & Development (S R&D) within the immigrant settlement services sector and improve service delivery for newcomers. This included creating an audience segmentation analysis & persona profiles, and a strategic communications plan with key messages and sample social media graphics. 


PROGRAM GAP ANALYSIS

Health Associations Nova Scotia | January - March 2023

Conducted research to identify appropriate collaborators for a review of the Continuing Care Assistants (CCAs) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Program in Nova Scotia. Currently organizing logistics to facilitate Indigenous and 2SLGBTQIA+ focus groups to better understand program barriers.


ACCELERATING ACCESSIBILITY & AWARENESS

SeaChange CoLab | April - May 2022

Assisted with program development and co-facilitated Accelerating Accessibility workshops for the Nova Scotia Accessibility Directorate, including participating in an interview on Barriers to Accessibility as a person living with a disability. 


CANADIAN CULTURAL SUCCESS PROGRAM

Africa Trade Desk/CareBridge Canada Health Services | October 2020 - Present 

Partnered with Africa Trade Desk to design a strategic plan to enhance the experience of international nurses coming to work and live in Canada. Developed brand messaging and marketing materials, investor funding packages and pitch decks, and a Canadian Cultural & Employee Success program.


MI’KMAW FAMILY SERVICES INITIATIVE

Mi’kmaw Child and Family Services of Nova Scotia | January 2021 - September 2023 

Worked with Performance Management Consulting (PMC) to design and facilitate key learning and information-gathering workshops across all service departments as the Mi’kmaw Nation works towards assuming complete jurisdiction and self-governance in matters affecting the well-being of all Mi’kmaw children, youth, and families in Nova Scotia.


CONTENT ANALYSIS OF MISSING AND MURDERED INDIGENOUS PEOPLES 

Mount Saint Vincent University | September 2021 - Present

Using an Intersectional lens and a Two-Eyed Seeing framework (a balance of Western and Indigenous knowledge), to conduct a quantitative content analysis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous People's cases in print news media. 


INCLUSION, DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND ACCESSIBILITY WORKSHOPS

Asterisk Consulting | April 2021 - August 2022

Developed original content for, and facilitated, various workshops and courses for large companies, universities, and non-profit organizations, with lessons centered around building inclusive and accessible workplaces and community spaces, through an intersectional and decolonial lens.


COMMUNITY-BASED PARTICIPATORY ACTION RESEARCH (PAR) PROJECT

Nanaimo Deep Discovery Association (NDDA) | September 2020 - May 2021 

Worked in collaboration with the NDDA Board of Directors and Snuneymuxw First Nation on an extensive community-based PAR project to assess the viability of an interactive ocean exploration and education program. Our implementation strategy included a qualitative study to engage new stakeholder partnerships in meaningful, contributing relationships.


WOMEN IN BUSINESS CURRICULUM

Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada | June - October 2020 

Assessed outdated training materials for Inuit businesswomen, using a cultural competence and voice-first approach, to develop racially sensitive and culturally appropriate workshops and training materials designed to help empower Inuit women to succeed in their businesses. 


GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT PROJECT 

Kakivak Association  | May 2020 - Present 

Developed a full program for delivery as a live workshop or as a virtual program with Performance Management Consulting (PMC). This program aimed to empower communities to access Government contracts in the Qikiqtani region and included a robust presentation, a facilitator's guide, and online certification opportunities in four regional dialects. Origin CEO Raelene was the Lead Consultant who designed and built Kakivak Learning Centre which included creating five courses in English and multiple dialects, a self-enrollment system, optimized for surveys, quizzes, extra content, and an automated certificate of completion that was customized to each course and learner. 


ADULT & YOUTH  PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND FACILITATION

Opiikapawaiin Services LP/Performance Management Consulting (PMC)  | February 2020 - April 2023

Worked directly with Performance Management Consulting (PMC) and with Elders and Knowledge Keepers to fully audit programs and practices. Designed a culturally relevant curriculum, facilitation guide, and training material related to pre-employment/job readiness training initiatives for youth and adult learners that are grounded in First Nations knowledge, culture, and ceremony. Delivered multiple month-long training programs (over 100 participants) in Northern Ontario and was responsible for overseeing all assistant instructors and participants.


NUU-CHAH-NULTH EMPLOYMENT TRAINING PROGRAM

Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council | April 2020 - Present

Worked with the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council by leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of a culturally relevant curriculum, facilitation guide, and training materials for the Nuu-chah-nulth Employment Training/Job Readiness program for youth and adult learners. Consulted with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Case Managers to hire and oversee instructors, and to ensure appropriate ongoing delivery and facilitation of all programs. 


CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES

Innu Round Table Secretariat (IRTS) | August 2019 - April 2022  

Supported IRTS Chief and Council, Board of Directors for the Mushuau Innu First Nation, and the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation to develop their Innu Child and Family Wellness Prevention Agency. We followed an Innu traditions-based approach, that centered Innu voices in strategic planning, program development, project management, and team capacity building.


YOUTH LEADER-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM

Massachusetts General Hospital | March 2019 - August 2022

Designed a Leader-in-Training curriculum for neurodiverse Youth, that supported students in defining leadership, identifying their own leadership style, and practicing leadership throughout their daily activities and routines at Aspire Trailblazers Adventure Camp.


ALL CANDIDATES DEBATE ON WOMEN’S RIGHTS & GENDER EQUITY

YWCA Halifax | August - September 2019

Collaborated with the YWCA Halifax’s Executive Director and 13 partner non-profit organizations to coordinate a debate for the 2019 Federal Election’s Halifax MP Candidates on women's rights and gender equity. Notable collaborators included Adsum for Women & Children, Alice House, E. Fry Society, Immigrant Migrant Women’s Association Halifax, NS Native Women’s Association, Margurite Centre, and Transition House Association NS, to name a few.


CELEBRATE VIOLA: 10 DOLLAR BILL CELEBRATION

North End Business Association | March - November 2018

Worked on a strategic planning committee to create a celebration of civil rights activist Viola Desmond on the new 10 Dollar Bill. Handled all copywriting, event marketing (website, social media), sponsorship coordination, and media relations.
