Spotlight on Generational Leadership: A Valuable First Step to Being 2SLGBTQIA+ Inclusive

"No person is your friend who demands your silence or denies your right to grow." - Alice Walker

Background & Event Details

Five years ago, Shelley Bridgman challenged the British judicial system to prove that legal recognition of gender identity status did not require state approval. Her legendary victory led to this ruling becoming legally binding in 17 countries across Europe. As we in the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community continue to fight bigotry and injustice in 2023, we're continually reminded of the perseverance of those who fought and marched before us.

In this learning circle, the hosts will share stories of their lived experiences, and how dynamics within and outside the community have shifted over the years. They will then guide attendees through an informal discussion about the importance of global intergenerational collaboration of 2S/LGBTQIA+ communities, especially when fighting for basic human rights.

Please note that attendees can choose to either join the circle or participate as spectators.

As hosts, we are not coming into this discussion as experts; instead, we respect that we are all knowledge-keepers in our own right and can continue to learn from each other.
